Welcome to Riverstone Therapies!

Written by Laura Bill, MT-BC

Hello all! We are so glad that you have found your way to our website and blog. Whether you’ve stumbled across us while scrolling on your favorite social media site or are actively searching for a unique, effective addition to your or your loved one’s care team, you are in the right place.

Who are we?

At Riverstone Therapies, we currently aim to offer high quality music therapy services to the people of Morris County and the surrounding area. Alecia and I both have unique experiences that led us to pursuing this field. Ever since I was in high school, I wanted to start a private music therapy practice to serve the local autism community and people in need. A place that truly welcomes and helps anyone and everyone. Alecia had a similar drive to create a caring community with the addition of having other specialized therapies to make an interdisciplinary team. Though we only have music therapy right now, our dream is to form a team of speech, occupational, physical, art, music and any other qualified therapy to create the best possible support system for our clients. What is music therapy?

Music therapy is the evidenced based practice where a certified therapist uses music as a tool to help people accomplish non-musical goals. Makes total sense, right? Basically a music therapist can work on goal areas such as increasing communication, fine/gross motor movements, regulation, and many others with music being the structure and motivator for clients of many diagnoses and ages. In our next post Alecia will provide a more detailed explanation of what this means and looks like.
